Car Crash testing is critical to selecting a new car to purchase or lease. The moto "big car walks away" is often times true but an educated consumer can avoid serious personal injuries in a car crash.

I have always been a fan of the moto, "Big cars walks away." As a personal injury attorney I see all to often smaller cars taking the "short" end of most car crashes. While there is certainly no guarantee that a big car will prevent you from suffering injury there's no doubt crash testing and your vehicle's results is a critical component of selecting your next car. Ford and Toyota earned top ratings with their 2007 Freestyle and the FJ Cruiser respectively. These SUVs toped the crash rating tests performed by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

The test results released Thursday also found that the 2007 Ford Fusion -- also sold as the Mercury Milan -- received the second-highest score of "acceptable" in front- and side-impact tests. It was an improvement over the 2006 version of the vehicles without side air bags, which received a "poor" rating in side-impact tests.
